Welcome to Wizard Walk!

My name is Sean Patrick Hannifin. I'm a music composer, programmer, wannabe fiction writer, and currently a student studying 3D character animation. This site serves as my "central hub" on the web. From here you can check out:

>> Over 40 pieces of free music, all in Creative Commons

>> My YouTube videos, mostly visualizations of my music

>> My journal-keeping blog The New Blather

>> My wiki, with up-to-date information on all my works and projects.

>> My daily comic, created with my poor drawing skills.

As of April 2010, my first album is available now!

You can also check out my Twitter and MySpace accounts, or drop me a line in my forums.

Thanks for stoppin' by!

New podcast is up

My new podcast called The Compose Pile is now up and running! In the podcast, I mostly blather about my thought processes while composing. I hope it is interesting to whoever enjoys my music. The show is still in its rough and early stages, but I hope to make a regular commitment to it, creating a show at least once a month, and more when I have time. You can subscribe to the show via iTunes, via email, and via a bunch of other RSS aggregators. Hope you enjoy!

Music now in Creative Commons!

I have recently released all of my music works into Creative Commons! I have given up some of the rights that US Copyright Laws automatically grant me. Hence forth, as long as my name (Sean Patrick Hannifin) is credited, you are free to copy, distribute, and use my music in any way you'd like, even for commercial purposes.

I don't think there's much purpose in holding on to all the rights that US Copyright Laws give me; it's highly doubtful any big Hollywood producer will contact me and say something like "Dragon of the Mist is a beautiful piece, and we'd like to pay you millions of dollars to use it in our upcoming feature film!"

Nor do I really feel like spreading false enthusiasm about my music in an effort to market it like bad rappers on MySpace.

I think I'd rather allow anyone to use my music in any way they'd like and see where it ends up. The worse that could happen is nothing, which is what would most likely happen if I just hold on to all my Copyright rights and say "my music is downloadable for personal listening purposes only". The best that could happen is... something.

So, all of my music is henceforth licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License.

Happy copying!

Sean

P.S. Have you noticed that in many composer bios, one of the first things that is mentioned is where the composer studied music? Hmmm... who cares?

The Game of Gynwig is back up

It's been quite some time since I've updated this front page, but my blogs, especially Blather, are really what get updated the most. However, I wanted to note that the link to The Game of Gynwig is back up (see the menu under "Works") and I'll be adding some new chapters soon, so be sure to get all caught up!

Best regards,

The New Design...

Well, here's the new design! Hope you like it! I still have all the news stories from the old design, I suppose I'll design some sort of archive for them rather than transferring each one to this site. So, besides the absense of those stories and a few more links I need to add here and there, I think most everything else is the same. The advantage of this new Content Management System I'm using is that it's more secure (I think... time will tell), it's up-to-date, and it looks better (in my opinion).

Oh, there's also a forum now... I don't know what anyone would want with a forum on this site, but I guess it's nice to have...

Hope you enjoy the new look!
